About HPC Chiropractic

HPC Chiropractic, originally named Praeger Chiropractic, was founded in 1968 by Dr Eric Praeger and passed to Dr Iain Praeger in 1984. HPC Chiropractic has been offering quality chiropractic care to newborns, seniors and everyone in between ever since. The care offered is tailored to the individual and ranges from specific adjustments through to remedial exercises and advice on health and lifestyle.

Due to the success and demand from patients, HPC opened its Camp Hill clinic in 2011. HPC clinics operate six days a week and have a full team of experienced and qualified chiropractors, backed up by caring and professional chiropractic assistants and office management.

HPC Philosophy

HPC Chiropractic’s mission is to achieve the highest quality of life for our patients through chiropractic care. We approach each patient individually and offer a tailored chiropractic solution that gets you pain relief, improved function  and back to what you enjoy doing faster.

Consultations

Understanding your health history is important to us because we want to understand your health journey to date. At your first consultation we will take the time to write down a detailed history of your health. We also undertake a thorough examination of your body and do an initial adjustment if appropriate on the day. We may require x-rays to understand your concerns further.

Ongoing consultations will consist of further understanding of your requirements, adjustments and any tests pertaining to your needs. Our main goal is to provide adjustment to your body to allow the nervous system to function properly, relieving pain and allowing the joint to work more freely. All our practitioners will treat the body as a whole and aim to find the cause of original dysfunction and treat it accordingly. All our chiropractors will take time to ensure that your body is ready and relaxed for adjustment. This may be done in a variety of ways including muscle testing, stretches, muscle releases, trigger point therapy and/or soft tissue work.

Back Pain

Up to 80% of people experience back pain at some time or another. Most assume it is caused through injury, however the most common reasons are general activities such as poor posture or bending and lifting the wrong way.

We rely heavily on the strength of our spine to support our weight and when our spine is out of position or has a weakness, it irritates the nerves and causes pain and discomfort. Chiropractors help  enable normal functioning of the spine and surrounding joints..

Here are some things you can do to prevent back pain:

  • Avoid sudden bending, twisting or abrupt movements
  • Adopt correct posture especially when sitting at work
  • Ensure your bed mattress is appropriate for your build
  • Exercise regularly
  • Avoid high heel shoes.

Pregnancy

Back pain during pregnancy is very common. Posture is important at any time, but even more so during pregnancy. Chiropractic treatments carried out with due care and attention on pregnant women can relieve discomfort. Chiropractic care for pregnant women can help the nervous system and spine to provide a more functionally healthy spine and pelvis before after the birth.
